Acupuncture is system of complementary medicine in which fine needles are inserted in the skin at specific points along what are considered to be lines of energy (meridians), used in the treatment of various physical conditions.
Under various conditions of illness, stress and fatigue, the normal circulation of energy in the body is disturbed. This impedes the flow of so called CHI energy and leads to the inability of these energy points to fulfill their regulatory function. Acupuncture treatment leads to the restoration of normal flow of energy throughout the body and to the balance of all processes in the body.
The medical explanation for the mechanism by which acupuncture affects the body is the increase of blood flow, as well as the activation of endorphins, which act as a natural painkiller. By placing these fine needles at specific points, the nerves, muscles and connective tissue are also affected.
Acupuncture procedures at the Physiotherapy Bio Center focus on different health conditions:
- Muscle cramps
- Disc herniation
- Headache and migraines
- Joint and muscle pain
- Strengthen the immune system
Acupuncture is generally not a painful procedure. Although the experience differ from patient to patient, Most patients express it like a slight pressure onto their skin, other experience warming or itching. At the Biotherapy Physiotherapy Center, we work with one-use only, sterile needles each time to prevent any infection.
